Concealed Carry Documents
New Documents and Procedures have instituted for obtaining the approval to carry a concealed weapon as a retired peace officer. All of the documents and instructions are posted in the FIREARMS INFORMATION section of the website. Be sure to read the INSTRUCTIONS documents as the policies have undergone considerable change!!
Retiree ID Cards
ID cards are NO longer made at the main. The new location is 610 East 10th at the Waller Bldg. The times are on Tuesday from 8am to 9am, and on Thursday from 1pm to 3pm. Everyone needs to make sure they have all their paper work. When you walk into the building you need to check in with security. The office for ID’s is on the 6th floor.
Federal Right to Carry Issue
We have been working on the right to carry issues for sometime as some of our members travel a lot and wanted to be protected under the national right to carry law for retired officers. This requires them to shoot once a year.
At the May meeting we found out that Tom Schaefer, retired APD, is a licensed firearms instructor and he has his own range in Dale, Texas. Tom has offered to assit officers who want to shoot yearly as required by the national right to carry law. Tom has offered his services for free to retired officers.

Dues are now being collected for the 2008 calendar year. Dues are $35.00 per year and are a small price to pay to ensure that you have a voice at City Hall and the Texas Legislature to represent YOUR interests as a retired officer.
