OLD APD Badges
available for purchase

APROA has been contacted and informed that Honorably Retired Officers can purchase the Old Style badges from APD. There are some rules, listed below, in regards to buying a badge and not all ranks are available.

Use the SAME FORM as ordering a "new" style badge.

What is in stock is first come first served.

Along with a number of breast badges they have about 30 of the flat retirees badges in black wallets. APD will sell the breast badges for $10.00 each, $15.00 for the ones in wallets, while they last.

Only one “Retired” badge per retiree and for the rank he or she held at the time of his or her retirement.

Breast badge purchases are one apiece per rank and only for the ranks held while on active duty. Retirees who have already purchased their badges in the past are not eligible to purchase additional badges.

Julie O’Brien, 512-974-8292 - Julie.O'Brien@ci.austin.tx.us has offered to be the contact person to route the approval form through IAD and the assistant chief, and then communicate with the retiree about when the form has been approved and when the APD Equipment Room is open for badge pickup. If paying by check, it should be made out to “City of Austin.” Payment will be made directly to the APD Equipment Room personnel when you pick up the badge.
